DESIGN
The university aimed to revamp its law library, focusing on upgrading the reception, study rooms, and cafe/collaboration area.
UNIVERSITY LAW LIBRARY
LAYOUT 1
To achieve flexibility, I integrated versatile furniture such as flip-top tables and castor-equipped pieces, facilitating easy adjustments for varying group sizes and layouts. The use of lightweight options further enable quick and effortless rearrangements, ensuring adaptability within the space.
The client wanted a flexible and agile space, with furniture that could easily be reconfigured to suit different purposes and events, making it multi-functional.
I integrated Acoustic Panelling into the design to reduce noise disturbance and enhance the comfort of the space for studying and socializing. These elements not only serve a functional purpose but also contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of the environment.
LAYOUT 2
As this space is located within the newer section of the building, the client sought for a design that had a more contemporary feel to it. Through the use of furniture, colour and patterned flooring I created a fresh contemporary design that still tied into the colour scheme of the study space, adding to the identity of the law library.
VISUALS
QUIET STUDY SPACE
In approaching the design of the quiet study space, my objective was to ensure it seamlessly blended with the building's heritage and existing green carpet, while infusing a contemporary feel to it. To achieve this, I integrated blue, burgundy and yellow tones to tie in with the more traditional style, while introducing modern elements through furniture and hanging acoustics.
