Designing for a client, the aim was to create an apartment that catered to the needs of a designer. The site for this project was our classroom, challenging us to utilise the space in order to create the best design. I wanted to create a space that was welcoming and not overwhelming so creating an open space allowed me to do this along with using calming neutral colours, having the open space also allowed for the kitchen and dining to encourage a space for communication.
As the client is a designer it was important to have an office space that allowed them to work on their craft and have enough storage space to cater to their needs having space for design materials and for extra hobbies they may have.
During my time in college I was able to develop my skill in hand drawing plans to scale and drawing to perspective to create a realistic view of the space.

Intergenerational housing works particularly well as a model for supported housing. It is a neighbourly, supportive community where residents of all ages engage and interact on a regular basis. It can have a positive impact on the individuals and the community.
The space I designed specifically focuses on those with dementia. So it was important for me to get a better understanding of the disease, and how design can help to impact their lives in a positive way. While also creating a space for students in the field of care and how living in the intergenerational home can benefit both themselves and those with dementia.
